How to Make Free AI Images for Blog Posts

A browser-based workflow for creating AI article covers and supporting illustrations without an API key or design subscription.

AI images are most useful in blog publishing when they support a specific idea rather than act as generic decoration. Start from the article angle and identify one scene, object, or visual metaphor that summarizes the topic.

Use a landscape ratio for the primary article cover because it leaves room for responsive crops and social link previews. Keep the central subject away from the extreme edges so the image can survive narrower layouts.

For supporting illustrations, match the same palette and visual treatment across every generation. Repeating a phrase such as muted editorial illustration with amber and dark green accents helps a group of images feel like one article set.

Avoid asking the model to render headlines or detailed interface text. Generated lettering is still unreliable. Add real titles later in an image editor or use the generated visual as a clean background behind accessible HTML text.

Before upload, resize the image to the actual content width, convert to a web-friendly format, and compress it carefully. The image generator creates the source asset; the publishing workflow still determines page speed and visual consistency.
