When to generate square, landscape, or portrait AI images for social posts, article covers, slides, and vertical feeds.
Aspect ratio should be decided before generation because it affects composition, not just output dimensions. A model places subjects differently in a square frame than it does in a wide cinematic frame.
A 1:1 square is the safest general-purpose option for profile grids, thumbnails, product concepts, and posts that may be reused across several channels. It gives the subject balanced space without strongly favoring horizontal or vertical movement.
